Combat Stress Support for Veterans

Combat Stress is the UK's leading mental health charity for Veterans, providing specialist clinical treatment and welfare support to ex-service men and women across the UK with mental health conditions. They have almost 6,000 Veterans registered with them, more than at any time since Combat Stress was founded in 1919.

Combat Stress treats conditions including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety. They provide a range of free services including short-stay clinical treatment, a specialist PTSD Intensive Treatment Programme, Occupational Therapy, Community and Outreach Support and a free 24-hour Helpline. There are three treatment centres within the UK where Combat Stress delivers treatment programmes: Ayrshire, Shropshire and Surrey.

Meet at 12 noon on Saturday 4 June at the Esplanade in Ayr

Meeting point is the car park at the southern end, close to Ayr India and the Beaches Tea Room, KA7 4AD.
Please check Facebook for the latest arrangements or contact us.

Hillbillies MCC has supported Combat Stress since 2009. Initially we visited on our way back from Crosshouse Hospital on some of our Easter Egg Runs, but more recently we've organised a separate run to coincide with the annual Hollybush House Summer Fête. The event also now includes a bike show with prizes for several categories.

We are very grateful to the many other bike clubs and individual riders (including the Provost of East Ayrshire) who join us for the run from Ayr to Hollybush and contribute to the donations as well as taking part in the fête itself.

THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed and helped us to support the work of Combat Stress at Hollybush House!

Hollybush House Bike Show

All the bikes on the run from Ayr to Hollybush House are entered in the bike show when they arrive at the Summer Fête. The Veterans themselves pick the winners in each of the four categories. Some of them are, or have been, bikers themselves and this is always a popular event.
